Duties
- Safely operate yard tractors, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment to load, unload, and move trailers within the yard.
- Load and unload trucks efficiently using forklifts, cranes, or other heavy machinery while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist with order picking and materials handling tasks to support warehouse distribution operations.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff and supervisors to ensure timely trailer placement and retrieval for shipping and receiving.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and heavy machinery to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance per OSHA standards.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements, load statuses, and equipment usage using warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners.
- Support shipping & receiving processes by verifying inbound/outbound shipments and ensuring proper documentation is completed.
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse distribution, order picking, or materials handling environments.
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation including forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and pallet jacks.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic issues with warehouse machinery.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards related to warehouse operations and heavy equipment use.
- Ability to operate RF scanners efficiently for order picking and inventory management tasks.
- Experience working in construction or similar industries involving heavy lifting and materials handling.
- Warehouse supervisor experience is a plus for understanding operational flow and safety oversight.
